Walking holiday in the Scottish Borders
In a land of astonishing beauty, Jedburgh perfectly captures the mood of the Scottish Borders. An inspirational and romantic place where you can escape the trials of everyday life and experience pure tranquillity in a truly stunning environment.

The landscape of the Scottish Borders is characterised by green, rolling hills divided by beautiful river valleys, the most famous of which is the Tweed. The river runs through the region for nearly 160km (100 miles) from its source above the Tweedsmuir to the sea at Berwick-upon-Tweed. Along or close to the river are many fine walks. In the south-west of the region, the valleys of Teviotdale and Liddesdale, also provide splendid walking with wide views over rounded hills or through the large forests.

To the north and east of the River Tweed, the Moorfoot and Lammermuir Hills are lower and more gentle but providing their own beauty and spectacular views. The Lammermuirs in particular are heather clad, providing stunning colour in late summer and autumn.

The Visitor Information Centre in Jedburgh provides free of charge a booklet entitled ‘Walking in the Scottish Borders’ which features over 30 walks. This booklet is also featured in the information folder in Tweed Cottage.
